The 17th Annual Winner's Circle
Invitational TDW is in the books. A field of 24 boats competed including
3 local Bahamian teams. The event was held at Old Bahama Bay, West
End Grand Bahama Island over the May 4-7th weekend.
The weather was beautiful but the
wind was howling. The first day only 11 boats fished. The very
first two boats that left the dock were Ventures. One of them, the Double Down, had the largest tuna and
dolphin of the day. Matchless
had a grand slam that same day catching all three of the species including the
largest wahoo of the day.
Day 2 was a mad dash to get out of
the marina and fishing. It turned out to be the best day for fishing with Bull Run getting a 48.6 tuna, Pole Position getting the largest
dolphin at 41 lbs. and Four Reel getting
the largest wahoo at 41.8 lbs. and having a grand slam on all three species for
the day.
On Day 3 the Good Call owned by Greg Hull, a 37’ Bahama, fished hard and had a
Grand Slam that included a 57.3 tuna and swept the day and tournament.
1st Place - Good Call - Greg Hull 41' Bahama: 101.6
total weight with a 57.3 tuna on last day to win.
2nd Place - Stihl Leader - Bob Noble and Family: 64'
Viking 95.1 lbs. total weight of all combined species. Larges for
them was 47.2 tuna on Day 2.
3rd Place - Bull Run - Tom Smith and Family
39' Venture 87.1 lbs. total weight with a 48.6 tuna on day 2.
4th Place –
Four Reel – Frank Devlin: 52’ Viking

While meat fish were the target, it didn't stop a few boats from
having some fun with releases. Princess Lily's John Samuels released a
blue from his Viking 66 and Gary
Belcher had a sailfish on his Viking 52 Plum Crazy.
Lots of good competition and money
raised for this year’s charity partners, The American Cancer Society, The
Marine Industry Education Foundation and The Richard David Kann Melanoma
Foundation.
